Where We Guide

Most of the adventures we offer take place in Grand Staircase-Escalante National Monument, Capitol Reef National Park or the San Rafael Swell. These areas include huge tracts of unspoiled land that has eroded into a tangled maze of deep, rugged canyons. There is space here where you can easily find solitude and adventure.

Grand Staircase-Escalante National Monument
The famous Escalante Canyons are found here - carved by the Escalante River as it tumbles down from Boulder Mountain, cutting its way through the earth's rocky skeleton before flowing into Lake Powell. These canyons contain some of the most remote and difficult terrain on the North American Continent.

People who make the effort to hike here fall in love with the rugged Escalante country. It is often described as one of the most unusual and beautiful areas on earth.

The national monument includes widely diverse landscapes, from deep canyons to towering plateaus and desolate badlands.

Capitol Reef National Park
This park offers exceptional canyon hikes through a unique geological feature called the Waterpocket Fold. The Fold is a wrinkle in the earth's crust that runs north-to-south for about 100 miles. Streams have gnawed through the rock in spots, creating extremely narrow canyons where hikers must scramble, wade and swim to get through.

Capitol Reef is somewhat off the beaten path, so it does not draw as many visitors as other Utah national parks. It contains all the splendor, just not the crowds.

San Rafael Swell
The "Swell" is a bulge in the earth's surface. Streams have sculpted the rock, producing tremendously scenic albeit rugged canyons and towering cliffs. The Swell includes land that rivals our national parks in terms of beauty and recreational potential. It is easy to find adventure in this stunning setting.

These areas are flanked by forested mountains and pastel-colored plateaus. With such a wide assortment of terrain, these areas offer something for everyone.
